Winter Class Schedule

Corvallis Bridge Seminar Series (update)
During the winter and spring the Corvallis Bridge Club is offering a series of short (two- to four-hour) seminars focusing on specific topics. Seminars are stand-alone sessions that you can sign up for depending on your skill level and interests. The instructors of these classes are club members who will share their knowledge and skills. Seminars are intended for intermediate players, but all are welcome to attend.

 • Ever Wonder If You Have a 5/3 Fit with Partner?
New minor forcing or support doubles may help answer your question. Practice using these two conventions to find an eight-card trump fit.

Instructor: Becky McKenzie
Saturday, February 17, 10:00 – noon
Cost: $10.00

 • Why Did I Go Down in 3NT While Other Players Made It?
Often the difference lies in planning. Practice planning the play before you even lay down your first card.

Instructor: Rick Garvin
Saturday, March 3, 10:00 a.m. – noon
Cost: $10

 • Why Did They Make 3NT While Other Pairs Went Down?
Often the difference lies in planning. Practice planning defensive play starting with opening lead.

Instructor: Rick Garvin
Saturday, Saturday, March 10, 10:00 a.m. – noon
Cost: $10

 • Bidding Slams
Have you ever gotten hopelessly lost when attempting to bid a slam or realized in retrospect that you have missed a slam? This seminar will give you the tools you need to communicate clearly with your partner as you move toward slams that are difficult to bid.

Instructor: Irva Kay Neyhart
Saturday, May 5, 10:00 a.m. – noon; 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Cost: $25.00

 • Help Me, Partner! Partnership Communication in Defense
While defending a hand, there are lots of chances to communicate with your partner. Learn to take advantage of these opportunities, communicate with your partner to make the most out of your combined holdings, and become a better defender!

Saturday, June 23, 10:00 a.m. – noon
Instructors: Allison Evans and Dennis Harms
Cost: $10.00

If you plan to attend a seminar, please register by emailing Ann Larson at least 10 days before. (annlarson278@yahoo.com) Payment will be collected at the seminar. Dates and times of seminars subject to change. Check website for latest information.
